The Want is Real for Kia's Stunning New Wagon Concept

The Want is Real for Kia's Stunning New Wagon Concept

The future styling of Kia road cars has been previewed with the debut of the Proceed Concept at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.

The Proceed Concept was designed at Kia’s European design center in Germany. Kia is calling it an “extended hot hatch,” instead of a wagon and says the design study previews the future styling of the C’eed five-door hatchback and the related three-door Proceed. The Korean automaker also says it “puts forward a bold vision for a potential member of the next-generation Cee’d family,” indicating that a C’eed wagon could eventually arrive.

“With many European drivers now seeking performance alternatives to the three-door hot hatch, we began thinking about a different halo model for the Cee’d family,” said chief designer for Kia Motors Europe, Gregory Guillaume. “The Proceed Concept represents a bold new vision of how the vibrant soul of the pro_cee’d could be reincarnated and revitalized for a new generation of performance-oriented drivers.”

One standout styling cue on the Proceed concept is the ‘Lumiline’ trim, which highlights the sharply styled greenhouse section with a thin light strip and accentuates its raked, fastback shape. There’s also a dramatized version of Kia’s recognizable tiger nose grille up front, a unique “sharkblade” style c-pillar and large six-spoke 20-inch wheels. The concept is finished in a special Lava Red exterior color, which was created using multiple hand-applied layers of black, chrome-effect silver, and red-tinted lacquer.

We probably won’t be getting a Kia that looks anything like this in North America, in case you were wondering, so we’ll have to appreciate this stylish design study from afar.
