Steve Jobs' BMW Z8 is Crossing the Auction Block

Sporting 15,200 original miles on the odometer, a 2000 BMW Z8 originally owned by Apple’s Steve Jobs is going up for auction.

Set to cross the auction block on December 6 at RM Sotheby’s New York Icons auction, the BMW Z8 was first delivered to the late Steve Jobs on October 6, 2000. According to the auction house, it is the 85th unit produced for the first year of U.S.-specification units and is the 67th customer car. Helping make the car extra special is that Jobs’ ownership is actually documented through several service invoices for the car, along with a copy of the California registration in his name at his personal residence. This is rare because Jobs rarely registered his cars to protect his anonymity.

The former Apple CEO owned the Z8 until 2003 when it was sold to the current Los Angeles-based owner. After acquiring the car in 2003, the individual kept the car for about a year before selling it to a Bay Area tech executive in September 2004. But the regret was pretty intense, so the person contacted the buyer from San Francisco and convinced him to sell the car back in April 2006 and he has owned it ever since. That means the current owner is actually the second and fourth owner.

Finished in Titanium with a black leather interior, the BMW is expected to fetch between $300,000 to $400,000 at auction. The winner will also receive the car’s proper hardtop and hardtop stand, car cover, owner’s and service manuals, service records, two keys, navigation CDs, and the original BMW-branded Motorola flip-phone, which we are sure Jobs absolutely .
