Jaguar to Show its 592 HP XE SV Project 8 in the U.S. This Month

Jaguar will bring its wild new 592 horsepower XE SV Project 8 to this month’s Monterey Car Week, marking the first time the super sedan has been shown publicly in North America.

The Project 8 was first unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the United Kingdom in June. It was there that we learned about its near-600 horsepower 5.0-liter supercharged V8, 3.3 second 0-60 mph time and 200 mph top speed. In addition to the forced induction eight-cylinder, the high-performance four-door also benefits from adjustable suspension, race-inspired aerodynamics, carbon ceramic brakes and an electronic differential.

European buyers will be able to spec their Project 8 with a roll cage, rear seat delete and lightweight carbon-fiber front seats, but that track-ready package won’t be offered to North American buyers – they’ll have to make do with the less hardcore four-seat version. Jaguar will bring two examples of the sedan to Monterey, one being the orange two-seat car it brought to Goodwood and the other being a four-seat, U.S. spec Velocity Blue car. The pair won’t be sitting stationary, either, with Jaguar planning to demo them at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Laguna Seca from August 17th through to the 20th.

The British automaker says prospective buyers of the XE SV Project 8 will be able to sign up to buy the limited-edition vehicle at its booth at the Motorsports Reunion. You’d be wise to show up if you’re hoping to buy one, seeing as just 300 will be made. Oh, and FYI, that’s 300 units globally – not 300 for the U.S.
