Jaguar-Land Rover Files a Slew of Trademarks Hinting at Possible Future Models

Jaguar–Land Rover has filed 29 trademarks for model names since March 13, 2017.

While the volume of filing activity would be considered odd for most companies, the behavior isn’t entirely unusual for Jaguar Land Rover since the company typically files numerous trademarks at a time. There were also some trademarks filed around February 22, although many of those are for existing models.

Some of the notable trademarks recently filed include Westminster, XJS, Freestyle, Landy, Range Rover Classic, P-Type, T-Type, C-XE, iXE, diXE, XEdi, XEi, CXF, CXJ, Sawtooth, Stormer and Landmark. It’s unlikely the British automaker plans on using all of these nameplates, but it’s standard for automakers to trademark names under consideration.

The Jaguar XJS nameplate is one that has been used previously, while Freestyle appears to be a variant of Freelander for Land Rover. The XE variants hint at an electric version of the sedan, similar to the I-Pace name. P-Type and T-Type seem tantalizingly related to F-Type, so could we see an expansion of Jaguar’s sports car lineup? As for the rest, your guess is as good as ours. There’s a good chance the company never uses some of them at all.
