Here's the World's First All-Electric 'Sport Utility Truck'

It’s called the Bollinger Motors B1.

While most automakers are turning to all-electric powertrains to make some of the world’s fastest and most absurd hypercars, some companies are using electric power to make utility vehicles. In late May, the Havelaar Bison was unveiled as an all-electric pickup truck, and now American automaker Bollinger Motors has introduced what it calls the world’s first all-electric sport utility truck.

The Bollinger Motors B1 rides on top of a lightweight aluminum architecture, featuring a rugged, heavy-duty truck design with a classic, two-box look. Overall dimensions measure 150 inches long, 76.5 inches wide, and 73.5 inches tall. Powering the B1 is a dual-motor powertrain that provides full-time all-wheel drive, and it promises to deliver best-in-class horsepower with 360 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque.

The company says that performance is good for a zero-to-60 time of 4.5 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 127 mph.

Shoppers can choose between two lithium-ion battery options: 60 kWh or 100 kWh, returning either 120 or 200 miles in range, respectively.

Manufacturing of the sport utility truck is still being finalized, but the company is looking to open company and retail stores in major cities across the U.S. Interested individuals can reserve a spot online with no money down, and early next year reservation holders will be able to order their B1 with a $1,000 down payment.

“We are so thrilled to be able to finally take the wraps off of our Bollinger B1 SUT,” said Bollinger Motors’ founder and CEO, Robert Bollinger. “This is the culmination of what has been a 40-year-long boyhood dream of mine and I couldn’t be more pleased with the vehicle and the incredible team who worked so hard to create it.”
