Check Out the New BMW Z4 Concept

BMW will unveil its new concept roadster later this week during the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance but has provided an amuse bouche to whet our appetites.

According to Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group Design, “The concept expresses the new BMW design language from all perspectives and in all details. From the dynamic-looking front to the striking flanks to the clean-cut tail end: a few lines and the subtle interplay between surfaces are enough to generate a sense of power and emotion.”

Basically, Adrian is saying the new Concept represents BMW’s vision of a modern roadster, one that will morph into a serially-produced vehicle over the next twelve months.

Like the Concept 8 Series, the Concept Roadster is low slung with an aggressive muscular surface and stance. It also shares the brand’s new flared kidney grille, albeit in a narrower and slatless format.

Most tantalizing are the stacked halo headlamps which bring a more upright rake than seen in BMW’s recent headlight appliques and could indicate a new design direction for future front ends.

There’s a massive set of front intakes hiding behind the black shadows which are accompanied by M2-esque scalloping just aft of the front wheels, defined by two character lines which fade into the Concept’s haunches.

Check back for a proper look at the new Roadster at 10:00 AM on August 17th, when BMW officially unveils the Concept on the 18th green at Pebble Beach Golf and Country Club in Monterey, California.
