BMW Confirms Two World Debuts in Detroit Early Next Year

The 2019 BMW i8 Coupe and BMW X2 will make their worldwide debuts at the 2018 North American International Auto Show.

The production BMW X2 will bow in Detroit, one year after the German automaker introduced the X2 Concept at the same show. Joining the X2 will be the 2019 BMW i8 Coupe with increased power and range. The updates are similar to what has already debuted on the BMW i8 Roadster at the 2017 L.A. Auto Show, so don’t expect very many surprises.

Look for the 2019 BMW i8 Coupe to sport 369 horsepower, 12 more than before, and 184 pound-feet of torque, giving it a zero-to-60 mph time of 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph. The lithium-ion battery has also been upgraded, with its cell capacity increasing from 20 Ah to 34 Ah. Gross energy capacity has increased from 7.1 kWh to 11.6 kWh.
