An Italian Boutique Automaker is Debuting its First New Car in Over 50 Years

Automobili Turismo e Sport (ATS) is debuting a new car at the end of the month.

The Italian automaker first resurfaced in 2012 but has been relatively quiet ever since. Now, an all-new supercar will debut to the public at the U.K.’s Salon Privé on August 31. The global premiere will mark the launch of the brand’s first new GT supercar in more than 50 years after it built its road-going sports car in 1963.

ATS was originally founded by Carlo Chiti and Giotto Bizarrini, along with other members of Scuderia Ferrari who left the team in 1961 in protest of Enzo Ferrari’s actions. The company was created with the aim of beating Ferrari at its own game.

The company isn’t revealing much about its new supercar, releasing the above teaser image. It did however, say it will blend modern-day technology, engineering, and timeless style with a twin-turbo V8 engine paired to a seven-speed, dual clutch transmission. It will be limited to 12 units and production has already been confirmed. Along with the new GT supercar, ATS will bring an original ATS 2500 GTS to Salon Privé.

“This is a pivotal day for ATS and our new supercar,” said ATS Automobili Turismo e Sport owner Daniele Maritan. “We use words such as  to represent the values that were shared among all the founders of ATS in 1962. Today we find the same values in the talented people bringing back this historically important brand. Salon Privé was the obvious destination for us to launch our luxury and historically important supercar this Summer, and we can’t wait to show it off to the public.”
