2019 Ford Focus Spied Testing on the Ice

We have seen this Ford Focus prototype before, but now it’s out playing in the snow.

The next-generation Ford Focus looks to be wider and longer than its predecessor, which should result in more interior and cargo space. Although the Ford Focus RS helped the hatchback gain some attention in recent years, the regular Focus still has stiff competition in the compact hatchback segment with the Volkswagen Golf seemingly dominating the market. Look for the fourth-generation model to gain some ground as a more mature model when it’s revealed sometime early 2018.

The prototype is still heavily camouflaged, so it’s hard to pick out all the details. Expect it to weigh less and be more aerodynamic to improve fuel efficiency while hybrid and fully electric versions are likely. We should also see the same three-cylinder EcoBoost engine used on the Focus ST along with larger, more powerful engines to fill the lineup.

All eyes will be on Ford to see if it will create a successor to the RS, or if it will be content with just another Ford Focus ST.
