It may be difficult to tell, but Ford gave the 2018 Explorer SUV a mild refresh.
Being introduced at the 2017 New York Auto Show, the updated Explorer features revamped front and rear styling details, better technology and more options. The American automaker’s most well-known SUV now has an available 4G modem that includes a Wi-Fi hotspot that can support as many as 10 devices at once, up to 50 feet away from the vehicle. There’s also SYNC Connect, allowing owners to connect with their Explorer remotely using FordPass to start, lock, unlock and locate their vehicle from almost anywhere.

Shoppers can also choose from a newly available Safe and Smart Package that combines high-demand driver-assist features including adaptive cruise control and collision warning with brake support, blind spot information system, cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping system, auto high-beams and rain-sensing wipers.
The 2018 model year also adds four new color options to the Explorer’s lineup: Burgundy Velvet Tinted Clearcoat, Cinnamon Glaze, Platinum Dune Tricoat and Blue Metallic. The Explorer gets five new wheel choices as well.
Engine choices for the 2018 Ford Explorer include a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine with 280 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque or a 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 with 365 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque.
Look for the model to arrive dealerships this fall, with pricing announced closer to its release.
