The freshened Fit's headline is that Honda's Sensing suite of safety-tech features now is offered on all trims and is standard for 2018 on the upper-level EX and EX-L. It adds $1,000 to the price of the base LX and new Sport trims. The package, unusually complete for the class, includes a forward collision system with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist and road departure mitigation.

The Fit also now joins others in the Honda lineup with a Sport trim offering sportier styling cues at a value price level. The 2018 Fit Sport gets aero-style front and rear bumpers, orange pin-striping, 16-inch gloss black alloy wheels, a chrome exhaust tip and a black interior with orange accent stitching.

The new trim starts at $18,375 with the six-speed manual, and slots between the LX and EX. The EX, which includes the safety tech standard, starts at $19,035 with the six-speed manual. The Fit's continuously variable automatic transmission adds $800 to the Sport and EX.

The EX-L starts at $21,395, with includes the CVT and safety tech standard. The EX-L with in-car navigation tops out the Fit starting prices at $22,395.

The Sport trim and above have a 7-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. There are two bright new paint colors for the 2018 Fit: Helios Yellow and Orange Fury. And Honda says 2018 tweaks have improved handling and cabin noise levels. The 130-horsepower, 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine and transmissions are carried over from the 2017 model.
