The Ultimate Lightning McQueen by Sphero is even cooler than the company’s Star Wars BB-8 creation.
About two years ago, Sphero caught the attention of many when it released an interactive BB-8 toy that could roll just like the droid in the movie. The company is continuing its relationship with Disney by releasing its version of a Lighting McQueen toy, just in time for the upcoming .
Like the Sphero BB-8, the Ultimate Lightning McQueen is controlled by a smartphone app that syncs over Bluetooth. There’s also a mobile game that has users helping out in a virtual pit stop. While playing the game, the actual Lightning McQueen toy will offer advice and reminders of what tools to grab. And like the BB-8 that responds to watching , Lightning McQueen will make comments while watching .

But the best part of it all is the ability to drive the car around with extreme versatility, spinning in circles with ease. Sphero says it has a 30-foot range, should last around 40 minutes of driving on a single charge and can go up to six mph.
This is Sphero’s first device that talks, so what you see in the video isn’t some computer-generated voodoo magic. It’s also constructed from a soft plastic material, so it survives crashes without any damage. McQueen also reacts to being touched and he has around 300 phrases that he can say.
