This Armored Truck Costs More Than a Lamborghini

The monstrosity you see here is called the Terradyne Gurkha and it’s very, very expensive.

Crafted from a 2012 Ford F550 XL 4×4, the armored vehicle is powered by a 6.7-liter V8 turbocharged diesel engine with 300 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque, according to its JamesEdition listing. As one of only two ever built with Level 7 ballistic and 50-caliber armored protection, the Terradyne Gurkha is more like a tank for the road. That’s even more evident as it’s the same truck featured in the 2014  movie.

The modified pickup includes a .50 cal M2 ball, six gun ports on the doors and rear side as well. It rides on 20×11-inch Hutchinson wheels wrapped with Continental MTP 81 All Terrain tires with run flats. The listing says its ballistic steel body can take multiple hits from any type of weapon in the same location without compromising the passenger inside the vehicle. In fact, it would take “several hours with a plasma cutter to breach the exterior of this truck.”

We’re not really sure who would actually find use for the Terradyne Gurkha on the road, but something will likely swoop it up as a collectible since it was used in a movie. Its $699,900 price tag is quite shocking, however, since that could easily get you a shiny new McLaren or Lamborghini.
