Thinking of Buying a Koenigsegg? That'll be a Long Wait

Koenigsegg admits there’s currently a four-year waiting list for its cars.

Speaking to  at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, CEO Christian von Koenigsegg went into detail about the first-world problem: “We have a four-year waiting list, and we want to make that shorter, because it’s getting tougher and tougher to sell cars with deliveries four or five years later.” As expensive as a Koenigsegg model is, the CEO admits there are many more customers who want to order cars and some are doing so despite the long wait time.

The Swedish automaker hopes to get the wait down to maybe two to two-and-a-half years, but admits that is the company’s biggest challenge.

This year, Koenigsegg is aiming to produce 25 cars per year and hopes by the end of the year after it will be at 30 units annually. But the company is currently ramping up in several different areas and said it will be between 16 to 20 cars this year.

So even if you could afford one, chances are there isn’t any money in the world that could buy you the patience of waiting four to five years before hopping behind the wheel.
