The Race-Proven SCG003 Supercar is Actually Heading to Production

Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus has received Low Volume Manufacturer status from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

If you follow Nurburgring lap times, you may have heard of James Glickenhaus, who was not very shy about expressing what he thought of Lamborghini’s record-setting Huracan Performante lap time. Glickenhaus is the founder of automaker Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus and this year competed at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring with its SCG003C race car that actually claimed pole with a time of 8:15.427.

Now, we’re going to see the street-legal versions of the car heading to production with pricing starting from $2 million.

By getting Low Volume Manufacturer status, Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus can produce up to 325 vehicles a year, but don’t expect production to come close to that number. The automaker plans on producing four to six units of the SCG003 for the 2018 model year, while production next year will be around eight to 10 units.

The hypercar will be offered in three variants: SCG003S, SCG003C, and SCG003CS. The street version will be the SCG003S (Stradale), while the SCG003C (Competizione) will be for track-use only. The SCG003CS (Competizione Stradale) is a combination of the two, as the name suggests, taking the track-only model and making it street legal. Powering the SCG003S is a 4.4-liter biturbo V8 engine with over 750 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque paired to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission. The SCG003C gets a Honda-sourced 3.5-liter biturbo V6 giving it around 500 hp.

The American automaker said the first road-registered example will be on display at the Quail Motorsports Gathering on August 18, 2017 during Monterey Car Week.
