The BMW X4M is Coming in 2019

It’s believed BMW will build the next-generation X4 into a bonafide M car after development mules were spotted in South Carolina.

Roving around outside BMW’s Spartanburg SUV plant, this X4 prototype captured by sharp shooters is sporting all the typical M performance cues, including the iconic quad tipped exhaust.

Up front deep air intakes in the fascia give away the crossover’s aggressive nature, while also offering a peek at the intercoolers mounted in either corner of the front bumper. Other athletic aesthetics make an appearance as well: performance wheels and tires, plus big brakes and cross-drilled rotors, with not one, but two prominent lip spoilers rounding out the look.

Named F98 in BMW nomenclature, the X4M is expected to use Bavaria’s new S58 twin turbo’d inline six-cylinder engine which will launch first under the hood of the X3M. The motor should be good for upwards of 450 hp, surpassing the current M3 and M4 equipped with the competition package

Production of the new X4 will begin in the early half of 2018 in Spartanburg, SC, while the M version should show up later in the year.
