The Acura NSX GT3 Looks Sexy Fully Exposed

The Acura NSX GT3 is getting ready to go racing next season.

First debuted at the 2016 New York Auto Show sporting graphics over its stunning body, Acura has now released photos of the NSX GT3 race car showing off its bare carbon fiber. The team has been testing at GingerMan Raceway in South Haven, Michigan and the vehicle is slated for homologation as an FIA GT3 race car this fall.

Sporting custom bodywork and aero components including a large deck wing spoiler, underbody diffuser and enlarged hood vents for efficient engine cooling, the 2017 Acura NSX GT3 will be powered by a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine using the same design specification as the production model. The engine will be paired with a six-speed, sequential-shift racing gearbox designed to deliver all the power to the rear wheels.

The 2017 Acura NSX recently made its race debut at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, and in near stock form claimed a victory in the Time Attack 2 class.

Initial development for the NSX GT3 race car was conducted by Acura’s Japan race engineering arm with testing on race circuits in Europe and Japan. Now, the race car is undergoing additional testing at tracks in the U.S. and final homologation to FIA GT3 global racing specifications are being done by Honda Performance Development, the automaker’s North American race engineering group.

“Building on the very solid foundation of the production NSX, we’re making steady progress in our development and looking forward to campaigning the GT3 racecar next year,” said Art St. Cyr, president of Honda Performance Development.
