Spy Photos Expose 2019 Ram 1500's New Tesla-Like Touchscreen

The 2019 Ram 1500 pickup is expected to make its debut at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show, but spy photos have exposed the truck’s new interior ahead of schedule.

The new pickup will benefit from FCA’s latest in-car technologies with hopes of keeping it ahead of the updated Ford F-150 as well as the upcoming replacements for the current GM trucks. It’s likely UConnect 4.0 will be used in the 2019 Ram 1500, but as you can tell by the spy photos, the pickup will feature a taller screen than what’s currently found in other FCA vehicles. It’s a bit similar to Tesla’s portrait display packed with touchscreen controls, although the Ram 1500’s unit is flanked by physical buttons.

Expect to see features such as self-park assist, lane-keep assist, and other driver assistance tech to find their way to the 2019 Ram 1500. It will also likely have a built-in trailer brake and other systems designed to make trailering and towing easier.

A photo of the key fob also reveals remote control access over the truck’s height when air suspension is selected, allowing easier loading of passengers and cargo without having to start the truck first. There’s also a key-activated automatic tailgate opener.

More details on the 2019 Ram 1500 should be released in the coming months as it prepares for its unveiling in January.
