Report: Audi RS Q5 Will Borrow the RS5’s Engine

Audi Sport is on its way with a performance version of the Q5 and its set to get 450 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque thanks to the same 2.9-liter biturbo V6 that currently powers the RS5.

That’s according to a new report from , which states that the engine should still be good for a sub-five-second zero-to-60 time, despite the added weight of SUV-dom.

The biturbo V6 will make the RS Q5 hit Germany’s mandated top speed of 155 mph pretty easily, but rumor has it that Audi will fudge the numbers on the limiter for a price, allowing it to hit 174 mph.

The RS Q5 will fill the gap between the RS Q3 and the RS Q8, which is rumored to arrive shortly after the Q8 does.

Rumors suggest that the RS Q5 will be revealed as early as September at the Frankfurt Auto Show.

Competition will be stiff, though, as BMW, Mercedes, and Porsche all have similarly sized performance SUVs. With the exception of Porsche, though, the Audi should outpower them all handily.
