Renault's Latest Product is Dumb, Dumb and Really Dumb

French automaker Renault has introduced nail polish that can also be used as touch-up paint on its cars, and eyes everywhere are rolling at this tone-deaf product.

In a statement introducing the product, Renault said its compact Twingo is for “active lady drivers who need to get about town but who are also attentive to fashion and looks.” To promote the new nail polish, Renault released the above video, where a woman screams “ouch” as she sees a visible scratch on her Twingo. She then paints her nail blue, before applying the same nail polish to touch up the scratch on the car.

As  reports, the head of French feminist collective Chiennes de Garde said the ad “reduces women to their beauty concerns and their inability to drive.” A Renault spokesperson responded, saying the Twingo nail polish targets “urban women who enjoy customization of their cars,” noting the video doesn’t show a woman who can’t park properly.

But really. Who the hell thought this was a good idea?
