Radically Styled Apollo Hypercar is Basically a Batmobile

The next chapter of Apollo Automobil has arrived with the insane Intensa Emozione (IE) hypercar.

Billed as a completely new project created from a blank sheet of paper, the Apollo IE is a flagship hypercar that features no turbochargers or hybrid systems. It rides on a bespoke all carbon fiber chassis, including its front and rear subframes, helping it weigh just 2,756 pounds (1,250 kilograms). According to Apollo, the radical body surfaces on the IE were designed with efficiency and highly optimized functionality in mind, inspired by tactile fighter jets and apex predators, such as sharks and raptors. The result is over 2,976 lbs (1,350 kgs) of downforce at 186 mph (300 km/h).

Powering the hypercar is a good ‘ol naturally aspirated 6.3-liter V12 engine generating 780 horsepower and 561 pound-feet of torque. The powerplant was developed in partnership with Autotecnica Motori and revs up to 9,000 rpm. Power is transmitted through a sequential six-speed gearbox from Hewland, which can be operated via electro-pneumatic paddle shifters that move with the steering wheel.

To ensure it handles as insane as it looks, the Apollo IE benefits from a Formula One-inspired double wishbone with full push-rod and rocker arm suspension setup on both the front and rear. There are also adjustable anti-roll bars, while the dampers are provided by Bilstein and are adjustable by the driver in three modes. Customers are also able to develop their own bespoke suspension setup.

Braking performance is also top notch courtesy of Brembo, while Michelin is the official tire supplier and partner for the Apollo IE.

To maintain exclusivity, only 10 units will be produced and those who order the hypercar will get exclusive access to the Time Attack program, which will be run by Apollo on the most relevant European race tracks. Owners will also get priority to order the Arrow, which is scheduled to enter production in 2019. And if you have to ask, pricing starts from 2.3-million euros ($2.7-million USD).

“We felt that all the technological advancement and automation in today’s supercars took away the pure, raw emotional connection between driver and car,” commented Norman Choi, Apollo chairman. “We wanted to build a car that would fill that void separating car and driver. So we built the Apollo IE.”
