Production Audi Q8 Spotted Completely Uncovered

A photo of a completely uncovered Audi Q8 is making its rounds online, revealing the large SUV’s design well ahead of its planned debut.

The photo, which was first shared to Italian automotive forum , shows the rear three-quarter view of a Q8 as it’s driving down the highway. As expected, the production Q8 closely resembles the concept with its sculpted rear wheel arches and a taillight cluster that spans the width of the SUV. We also spot a rear liftgate spoiler, five-spoke wheels and some black exhaust tips integrated into the rear bumper.

The production version of the Q8 is expected to debut sometime next year, but it won’t arrive in the U.S. until 2019. American versions of the SUV are expected to have Audi’s 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine packing 354 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, which will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. It will also spawn a high-performance RS version, which will likely have a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8, along with a plug-in hybrid E-Tron variant.

The Q8 will ride on an extended version of the Q7’s MLB platform and will be built alongside the slightly smaller SUV at Audi’s Bratislava plant in Slovakia. More information on the SUV should become available as its debut date nears.
