Porsche Offers Power Boost Kit for Base 911s Among Updates for 2018 Models

Porsche has announced some packaging changes for the 2018 model year, including the option to pay for more power in the 911 S.

For all new 911 Carrera S, 911 Carrera 4S and 911 Targa 4S models, Porsche Exclusive now offers a power kit that boosts output by 30 horsepower, up to a total of 450 hp thanks to larger turbochargers. The power kit also includes everything in Porsche’s Sport Chrono package, dynamic engine mounts, a modified brake cooling system and a sports exhaust setup.

The power kit will sell for 10,139 euros and as of June 2017, it will be available for retrofit onto all Porsche vehicles that already have the Sport Chrono package.

Overall pricing for the updated 2018 models is climbing by between 0.9 and 2.0 per cent depending on the model, but with that small increase comes a number of other upgrades.

Porsche will now include an integrated SD card with Connect Plus that allows its vehicles to access LTE standard, with data being sold at a flat rate. The Concierge Service in China and Japan is also being upgraded, adding on-demand services, allowing drivers to book flights, rent cars, reserve hotel rooms and even make restaurant reservations from their car.

In the 911 and Panamera, Connect Plus is standard equipment, while all other Porsche models it is available as an option. A host of new features, recently introduced in the 2018 Panamera, will also now be available in existing vehicles with Connect Plus through a downloading procedure performed at the dealership.

On top of all that, Porsche is offering plenty of new color options for 2018, including spreading the availability of Crayon grey to all 911 and 718 models. 911s get a special new four-coat Saffron Yellow Metallic with intermediate sanding, while the car’s optional sport exhaust can now be finished with high-gloss black tailpipes.

Inside, all Sport-Tex equipment is now available in black or Graphite Blue/Crayon, while inside the 911 Targa 4S, you can now get an Aetna Blue with Graphite Blue interior.
