Poll: Ford Fusion Sport or Audi S4?

Poll: Ford Fusion Sport or Audi S4?

In today’s internet popularity contest, we’re pitting two sedans against each other. Despite being manufactured by completely different automakers and occupying dissimilar pricing brackets these two models share a surprising number of similarities.

Which performance-focused four-door would you rather park in your driveway, the brand-new Ford Fusion Sport, or the magnificent Audi S4? Let’s run down the basics of each so you can make an informed choice.

Starting with the German, it features a 3.0-liter supercharged gasoline V6 that delivers 333 horses along with 325 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual or seven-ratio S tronic automatic are your transmission choices, and we’d GLADLY pick the former as it’s an absolute pleasure to use. But no matter which one of these you go with, the S4 is estimated to hit 60 miles an hour in a sprightly 4.9 seconds.

Helping deliver this impressive acceleration is Audi’s legendary quattro all-wheel-drive system. This technology also helps the car maintain its footing in even the sloppiest of road conditions.

As for the blue-oval offering, Ford’s Fusion Sport is motivated by a smaller 2.7-liter six-cylinder. In lieu of a belt-driven blower it brandishes twin turbochargers to great effect. Horsepower measures 325, a little less than what the S4 provides, but it more than makes up for this deficit with abundance torque, delivering an impressive 380 lb-ft of twist. Dearborn doesn’t list a zero-to-60 time but we’d bet it’s damn close to the Audi’s.

A heavy-duty six-speed autobox is the only transmission offered in this car. All-wheel drive is standard, though it’s likely less sophisticated than what’s found in the S4. Separating the Sport from lesser Fusions are things like unique suspension tuning, gummier tires, 19-inch wheels and automatically adjusting dampers.

When it comes to pricing, the Audi S4 kicks off around $50,000 but all it takes to drive home in a brand-new 2017 Ford Fusion Sport is about 35 grand.

All things considered, these are both compelling products, but which one would YOU rather own? Compare them back to back right here and please, make sure to vote in the poll down below!
