You could argue there’s never been a better time for automotive performance than today. There are plenty of big-horsepower vehicles available, models that will roast their tires, yet still deliver respectable fuel economy. They also offer plenty of safety and driver-friendly technology.

Two of our favorite go-fast coupes are built by Dodge and Chevrolet. Starting with the Challenger, in SRT 392 guise it features a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 (that 392 cubic inches if you’re curious). This engine cranks out 485 stampeding stallions and 475 lb-ft of twist. It can be paired with either an eight-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission.

Shifting gears so to speak, the Camaro SS also features a V8 engine, just as God intended. It’s hauled around by a 6.2-liter LT1 that’s good for 455 horsepower and an equal helping of torque. Mirroring its Mopar rival, a six-ratio manual or eight-speed automatic are you two transmission options.

As for style, both of these cars are sporty and menacing, but the Camaro is a good bit smaller. This means it’s likely faster and handles better. However, the Chevy’s blind spots are HUGE, also, its backseat is rather limited. The Dodge is definitely a larger car, which may mean it’s a little less engaging, but it has a gigantic trunk and a usable back seat that adults can actually fit in, important advantages.

So there you go, which of these modern classics do YOU prefer, the Dodge Challenger SRT 392 or the Chevrolet Camaro? If you still need more information on each of these you can compare them directly right here, and don’t forget to vote in our poll!
