Pininfarina Lends a Helping Hand on an Elegant Hybrid Sedan

Making its debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show is the Pininfarina H600 Concept.

The concept car is the result of a collaboration between design house Pininfarina and Hybrid Kinetic Group, a Hong Kong-based automaker. According to Pininfarina, the H600 “targets the businessman who appreciates refined details, precious materials and exclusive treatments, who takes pleasure in perfection and elegance.” While the styling might seem a bit tame compared to other concepts cars making their debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, you can’t help but admire how smooth and elegant the body is. The warm, grey metallic paint is further accented by jeweled insets, like the polished aluminum inserts arranged in a line starting from the hood, before running down the waistline and embracing the rear section of the concept.

2017 Geneva Motor Show Coverage

On the inside, the H600 follows the layout of a lounge, presenting an open space with a focus on maximum comfort for rear seat passengers. Natural cocoa brown leather upholstery boasting copper-colored seams is further accented by extensive use of veneered wood on the seat shells and the floor.

But what’s most interesting is the H600’s powertrain, which is a next-generation system from Hybrid Kinetic Group. Although the companies didn’t go into extensive details, it features a battery, electric motors, an electrical controller and range extender in the form of a micro turbine generator. Based on the more generous New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) mixed cycle, the H600 claims to have a range of over 620 miles, while boosting a zero-to-62 (0-100 km/h) time of 2.9 seconds. The electric motors provide over 800 horsepower to all four wheels and the concept weighs in at 4,123 pounds (1,870 kilograms).

Keep in mind this is a concept, and concepts tend to boast some generous specifications. Only time will tell if Hybrid Kinetic Group gets the H600 off to production.
