New M Performance Parts Have us Drooling Over the 2018 BMW M5

BMW’s M Performance division has rolled out a variety of accessories and performance parts for the 2018 M5.

The most prominent M Performance accessory featured on the SEMA show car pictured here is the carbon-fiber aero kit. Comprising a carbon front lip attachment, side sills, a carbon rear spoiler and large lower diffuser, the package gives the performance sedan a more aggressive look and optimizes the handling characteristics. It’s joined by various carbon fiber appearances parts, such as carbon mirror caps and a carbon grille surround, along with unique black M performance side-sill foils.

If you’re looking for tighter steering feel from the new M5, M Performance has developed coil over suspension with red coil springs for the new sedan. Those are joined by carbon ceramic brakes with sport pads and an M Performance sports exhaust system, which adds power, reduces weight and also improves the engine note. Carbon fiber exhaust tip covers enhance the look of the upgraded exhaust system, while a carbon M engine cover lets you show off when you pop the hood.

BMW has also introduced a variety of M parts for the new M5’s cabin. These include an M Performance carbon steering wheel with Alcantara trim, carbon shift paddles, M performance floor mats and a carbon shift lever. Rounding out the M Performance parts for the new M5 is the M Drive Analyser. Derived from motorsport, the analyzer records and evaluates vehicle dynamics data and can send the information to the user’s smartphone through the M Performance app. It can determine a variety of vehicle info, such as engine data, speed values, engaged gear, throttle and brake pedal position and more.

BMW will have a 2018 M5 loaded up with M accessories on display at the 2017 SEMA Show this week.
