Maserati Alfieri Reportedly Delayed Until at Least 2020

Maserati has shuffled some of its future product launches.

reports that the Granturismo and Grancabrio models will now be replaced in 2018-2019, meaning the production Alfieri sports car won’t arrive until 2020-2021 at the earliest. Speaking to the British publication, general manager of Maserati Europe Giulio Pastore said, “The Granturismo and Grancabrio will not be dropped. We won’t forget that Maserati is very well known in its history for beautiful 2+2 GT cars and we will replace them, then the Alfieri.”

That also means the Grancabrio will live on, despite a previous product plan that showed production ending and being replaced by a soft-top Alfieri model.

Pastore also revealed that key decisions on the platform and styling of the Alfieri have yet to be taken, which means the Italian automaker could leave the design approval until 2018 for a 2020 launch.

The Maserati Alfieri Concept was first shown at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show and at the time, it was scheduled to launch in 2016.
