Hyundai Veloster N Looks Nearly Production Ready in New Spy Shots

The Hyundai Veloster N, which is to be the first N performance model to arrive in North America, has been spied testing on the Nurburgring looking nearly production ready.

The hot hatchback has already been photographed on numerous occasions, but these photos have revealed its prominent rear spoiler, large front grille and other production styling cues. We can also see the Veloster N’s large twin exhaust tips and sizable rear diffuser, along with 18- or 19-inch wheels, low profile tires and red brake calipers. This prototype has Recaro race seats and a roll cage as well, but don’t expect those to make it to production – they’re for safety reasons only.

We hear the Veloster N will be powered by a 250 horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Like the Hyundai i30 N for Europe and other foreign markets, the Veloster N will be offered with a Performance Package that will boost output of the 2.0-liter to 270 horsepower. A six-speed manual transmission with rev-matching will likely send power to the front wheels. You can also expect high-performance brakes, an e-diff, launch control and other performance goodies featured on the i30 N.

The Hyundai Veloster N may debut at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show in late November, or perhaps at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next January. We’re expecting it to go on sale in mid-to-late 2018 as a 2019 model year vehicle.
