Hyundai recently announced the name of its upcoming baby crossover and now we have spy photos of the Kona out testing.
Set to compete against other small crossovers like the Nissan Juke, the new Kona is expected to be revealed in full by September of 2017 at the latest.
The Kona is said to be based on the small Hyundai i20, though parts and engines from the larger, and new, Hyundai i30 will be used. That means we can expect a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder providing around 140 horsepower to be an option. There’s also the possibility that Hyundai could go for the larger 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine from the Elantra, or the larger 1.6-liter turbo four from the Veloster Turbo.

Though the camoflouge hides the Kona well, expect the front end to mimic what we have seen on the new Hyundai Accent and the i30, which will be sold in North America as the Elantra GT.
Both front- and all-wheel drive are expected to be offered with the Kona.
