Hyundai has brought four heavily tuned versions of its vehicles to the 2017 SEMA Show.
The most radical of these Hyundai SEMA concepts is perhaps the Elantra Sport built by Blood Type Racing. Described as an “all show, all go” vehicle, it has some radical outward looks and the performance to back it up. BTR applied a number of mods to the 200 horsepower 1.6-liter turbo engine, including a custom ECU and a water/meth injection system. Other performance add-ons include aftermarket sway bars, an aftermarket strut tower brace and chassis brace, a big brake kit by Fella and lightweight 19-inch wheels wrapped in Toyota T1 sport tires. There’s also a big rear wing, a lip kit by Aerotek, a carbon steering wheel, diamond stitchted floor mats and some bright-orange paint.
Continuing with the sporty theme is the Tucson Sport by Vaccar. This heavily modified crossover features a Boostech turbocharger with an R50 blow-off valve, a Mishimoto intercooler, an AEM air-intake system, a Vaccar custom exhaust, Magnaflow performance mufflers, a Vaccar Powerstop brake kit, aftermarket coilovers, a Vaccar lip kit, an M&S mesh front grille and a Katzkin Ice Grey leather interior with Fog Suedezkin trim and blue stitching, among much, much more. The vehicle’s builder, Aaron Vaccar, says the Tucson is intended to give enthusiasts “a vision of just where this affordable crossover aspires to go.”

Blending sportiness and efficiency is the HyperEconiq Ioniq concept. Built by Bisimoto, this concept takes the already very efficient Ioniq and makes it even more fuel-friendly. With a reworked exhaust for better volumetric efficiency, some aero-dynamically enhanced wheel covers, carbon fiber wheels shod in low rolling resistance tires, NGK spark plugs and low friction eco oil, the HyperEconiq Ioniq returns over 80 real-world MPG. There’s also some other mods not related to hypermiling, such as performance brakes, Recaro race seats, performance suspension and a lip kit.
Completing Hyundai’s four-strong lineup of SEMA concepts is the Rockstar Energy Moab Extreme Off-Roader Santa Fe. As its name suggests, this is a Rockstar Energy-sponsored Tucson with huge 35-inch tires, 17-inch bead lock off-road wheels, a sizable suspension lift and other goodies like a portable air tank for refilling tires out on the trail and a roof-mounted light bar. Oddly, it also has a Nitrous Express wet system, a Mishimoto intercooler and downpipe, a Magnaflow exhaust and big brake kit.
All four Hyundai SEMA concepts will be display at the show in Las Vegas until November 3rd.
