Formula 1 Legend Helps Create One Hell of a Supercar

Formula 1 legend Emerson Fittipaldi just unveiled the car of his dreams, the Fittipaldi EF7 Vision Gran Turismo at the Geneva Motor Show.

To make his dream a reality, Fittipaldi called in the pens at Pininfarina, the Italian carrozzeria, and German engineering firm HWA AG – HWA as in Hans Werner Aufrecht, as in the A in AMG.

The sculpted all-carbon superconcept’s shape is exactly what you would expect if the Ferrari favorites in Cambiano built DTM cars, it’s staggeringly pretty yet nothing superfluous, ruthlessly functional and focused in racy kinda way. The EF7 is a car which Emerson hopes will offer the same fizzy feelings that only come from driving the finest racing machines, drinking adrenaline and driving.

“I have tried for years to explain to others what it truly feels like to be behind the steering wheel of a championship racecar. There is adrenaline and elation all rolled into an awe-inspiring inner fulfillment that leaves you craving for more,” said Fittipaldi.

The EF7 promises professional level performance courtesy of its 2,200-pound curb weight paired with a 9,000 rpm, 600-horsepower 4.8-liter V8 and six-speed transmission from Hewland, the people who build gearboxes for F1 cars and Le Mans Prototypes. The race-spec suspension is of the double wishbone variety, with adjustable anti-roll bars, and carbon brakes; plus a diffuser and an integrated adjustable rear wing.

2017 Geneva Motor Show Coverage

To instill a sense of comfort when exploring the limits of both car and driver, the monocoque safety capsule actually exceeds FIA standards with race grade crash elements in the front, the rear and the sides of the car. Even with the integrated roll cage there’s still enough room for two tailor made racing buckets.

The EF7 Vision Gran Turismo will have an extremely limited production run and with a full suite of bespoke interior and exterior customization options available to buyers, it’s unlikely two EF7s will be alike. Additionally, each owner also gains access to the Fittipaldi Racing Club plus driver training sessions with the former F1 champ.

“Together we have built the Fittipaldi EF7 Vision Gran Turismo by Pininfarina enabling lady and gentlemen drivers around the world to truly experience a new level of racing euphoria and passion and push beyond their limits on the most prestigious race circuits worldwide,” the two time Indy 500 winner added.

Those who won’t get their hands on an EF7 will be relegated to the virtual world where it will be playable in the upcoming for Playstion 4. It also marks Pininfarina’s first entry into the new FIA Gran Turismo Championships.
