Corvette C7-Based Electric Sports Car Will Cost $750,000

The next all-electric Genovation GXE will be based on the Chevrolet Corvette C7 and will have a price tag of $750,000.

The current Genovation GXE is based on the Corvette Z06 and features an all-electric powertrain that has a 44-kWh battery pack, near 50/50 weight distribution and an electric motor providing around 600 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque. As a result, the all-electric sports car reaches 60 mph from a standstill in less than three seconds and has a driving range of about 130 miles (209 kilometers).

Its successor looks to improve on those stats, starting with the Corvette C7 as a foundation. With improved battery management, the next-generation model looks to boost performance to 660 hp, while torque will remain the same. The company will also use green composites for the exterior body panels, while the interior will be uniquely designed for each unit. Expect it to also be lighter, since the C7 Corvette itself is lighter than the C6.

Genovation says the next model will be limited to 75 units and those interested will have to pony up $250,000 to reserve one. Genovation expects to begin deliveries for its next model by the end of 2019.
