Cadillac is Replacing Three of its Models with One New Car

The upcoming Cadillac CT5 will basically serve as a replacement for the ATS, CTS, and XTS sedans.

Speaking to , Cadillac president Johan de Nysschen spoke on how the American automaker needs to “rebalance” its sedan portfolio. The ATS, CTS, and XTS models each won’t get next-generation models when their life cycles end in 2019, instead a new Cadillac CT5 will cater to buyers looking for a sedan in the $35,000 to $45,000 price range. Those wanting a larger sedan will have to shop the CT6.

The new Cadillac CT5 will be produced at a factory near Lansing, Michigan, where the ATS and CTS are currently assembled. A compact sedan looking to take on the Audi A3 will also be produced there in the future.

The American automaker will also boost its crossover and SUV lineup with the XT4, before a larger three-row SUV arrives in 2019.
