Cadillac Celebrates 115 Years With the 2018 CTS-V Glacier Metallic Edition

Cadillac is celebrating its 115th birthday with the limited edition 2018 Cadillac CTS-V Glacier Metallic Edition.

Painted in a smoky light gray paint and accented with illuminated door handles, dark red Brembo brakes, and special Midnight Silver 19-inch wheels, Cadillac plans to produce just 115 of these special super saloons.

The special treatment continues inside where Jet Black Recaro sport seats, an UltraView sunroof, Rear Camera Mirror, the next-generation CUE infotainment system, and Cosworth Toolbox analysis software round out the package.

Still propelling the CTS-V is GM’s 6.2-liter supercharged LT4 V8 which is good for 640 horsepower and 630 lb-ft of torque. Curiously Cadillac continues to use the older 8-speed automatic instead of the highly intelligent 10-speed automatic on offer in the Camaro ZL1.

The company is also promising improvements to the five modes within the CTS-V’s Performance Traction Management system. The changes were developed through a two-year engineering study with the Pratt & Miller Cadillac Racing team competing in the Pirelli World Challenge series.

Starting at $103,885 (including destination) the Glacier Metallic Edition costs nearly $20,000 more than a regular CTS-V. The extra cost comes mostly from the addition of exclusive content, plus carbon fiber goodies like the front splitter, hood vent, rear spoiler, and rear diffuser. Each Glacier Metallic CTS-V also includes Cadillac’s Luxury package as standard which includes Tri-zone climate control, heated rear seats, and rear sunshades.

The first 105 cars begin production this month and are scheduled to arrive at various Cadillac stores across the US before year’s end. The remaining 10 cars will be made available later with inventory being shown on the company’s website.

Like other Cadillac V-Series models, the Glacier Metallic Edition includes tuition and accommodation at the 2-day Cadillac V-Performance Academy at Spring Mountain, in Pahrump, Nevada.
