BMW Z4 Spy Photos Reveal Secrets Inside and Out

A fresh set of spy photos showing the upcoming BMW Z4 have revealed some juicy details on the new BMW roadster.

Thanks to clear shots of the dashboard, paperwork can be seen describing the test car, which appears to be the Z4 S20i packing a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine making nearly 200 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual gearbox is also seen inside the car, confirming at least that the small 2.0-liter will let you row through your own gears.

A hybrid powertrain of some kind, along with a larger turbocharged six-cylinder engine are both expected to be offered on the new Z4 as well.

Thanks to an all-new platform developed in conjunction with Toyota, the new Z4 should weigh quite a bit less than the current model, also helped by the ditching of a hardtop convertible roof in favor of simple cloth.

The new Z4 should debut in production form before the end of 2017 as it’s expected to hit dealerships in 2018.
