BMW M5 Competition Package Coming in 2018

BMW M5 Competition Package Coming in 2018

A faster BMW M5 Competition Package will arrive in 2018, the automaker has confirmed.

While the new 600 horsepower BMW M5 probably won’t leave customers asking for more performance, there’s no harm in extracting a bit more performance from the mid-size sedan. Speaking to Motor1, BMW’s product boss for executive large cars said the M5 Competition Package “will bring tweaked dynamics, and likely standard ceramic brakes – which are a $10,000 option on the standard car.” Like the M3 Competition Package, we’re expecting M5 Competition to also have a bit more power on tap, revised suspension, lightweight wheels and some exclusive interior content.

The 2018 BMW M5  debuted last month with a 600 horsepower version of BMW’s 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8. The M xDrive all-wheel drive system is a point of particular interest, offering plenty of grip when needed and capable of being turned off at any time for a rear-wheel drive experience. The 4,090 lb four-door will hustle from 0-62 mph in 3.4 seconds and hit an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (189 mph with the optional M Driver’s Package), but you can expect those figures to change with the Competition Package.

The BMW M5 Competition Package will make its debut sometime next year. If we had to wager a guess, we’d say it will show up at the performance car saturated Geneva Motor Show.
