BMW M2 CS Gets Wet and Wild at the Nurburgring

The BMW M2 CS has been filmed testing in both wet and dry conditions at the Nurburgring in Germany.

This video doesn’t tell us much about the M2 CS we don’t already know, but it gives us a rare chance to see the upcoming performance coupe being put through its paces. At first the M2 CS is seen lapping the demanding Nordschleife in dry conditions, but it then comes by for a few passes in the wet. In a couple of the wet weather shots, you can even see the driver wrestling with the wheel as he tries to prevent the back end from stepping out.

Rumors point to the M2 CS adopting the BMW M3’s 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six engine. It would be offered in a slightly downrated 400 horsepower guise, but that would still amount to an extra 37 horsepower and 27 lb-ft of torque over the standard M2. It will also be about 55 lbs lighter than the standard car thanks to an aluminum roof, thinner window glass, lightweight seats, carbon ceramic brakes and more.

The M2 should arrive sometime in the first half of 2018 and if the internet is to be believed, an even more hardcore M2 GTS will be hot on its tail. That rumored model is said to be a full 110 lbs lighter than the standard M2 and will produce 444 horsepower from a twin-turbo inline-six. Helping it become handier through the corners will be an electronic limited slip differential that will apparently debut on the 2018 BMW M5.
