BMW i8 Roadster Set to Arrive in 2018

BMW has released the first official teaser video for the upcoming BMW i8 Roadster.

The model hasn’t been much of a secret, with spy photographers catching a prototype in action multiple times earlier this year. Still, BMW isn’t sharing any details with the teaser video, simply saying “The first ever BMW i8 Roadster is getting ready to lift up its wings in 2018.” Expect the convertible variant to arrive along with the facelifted BMW i8 Coupe that will feature redesigned LED headlights, new front and rear bumpers, and updated wheel designs.

The video also confirms the BMW i8 Roadster will retain its butterfly doors, while owners will likely have to manually remove the soft-top. Power output should also get an increase with the facelifted model, which should put both the coupe and roadster variants at around 420 horsepower.

Both models will likely bow at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
