Aston Martin is Gearing Up to Produce its New SUV

Production of the Aston Martin DBX is on target to start in 2019.

The British automaker recently hosted a special ceremony to launch Phase II of the redevelopment of MOD St Athan. The production facility in South Wales will be the company’s second U.K. manufacturing plant and will be home to production of the DBX.

The former military site was handed over from the Ministry of Defence to Aston Martin by Secretary of State Sir Michael Fallon, and Phase I started late last year when Aston Martin created the customer and staff reception areas, administration and management offices and the employee restaurant.

Phase II will see the three super hangars redeveloped into a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility and the investment into St Athan is part of the company’s wider industrial expansion that will see 1,000 new jobs created across its two manufacturing sites by 2020.
