Aston Martin DB11 Convertible Hits the Nurburgring for Testing

Aston’s new drop-top luxury sports car will debut next spring.

Aston Martin isn’t being very secretive with the upcoming DB11 Volante, with the British automaker formally announcing it in September 2016 on the hood of this prototype. As the convertible version of the existing DB11 coupe, there likely won’t be any surprises which is why it’s been seen testing with only minimal camouflage. Still, the rear is covered up and likely will be so until it’s ready for its debut in spring 2018.

Look for power to come from the same 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 engine seen in the DB11 coupe with 600 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. The convertible will retain the sleek body lines of the DB11 coupe, thanks to Aston Martin opting to use a soft top. Like other convertible variants, the major question will be if Aston Martin manages to keep weight down by incorporating a drop top.
