German manufacturer Apollo has teased its new IE supercar, which will likely be the track-only version of its upcoming Arrow model.
Apollo made a splash at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, where it debuted the Arrow in pre-production form. The brand was created from Germany’s Gumpert after it went bankrupt and is now owned by Chinese investors in Hong Kong, with its operations based in Italy. Since the acquisition, Apollo has parted ways with previous founder Roland Gumpert, but so far, it doesn’t look like it’s skipping a beat. The owner should have thought about many options apart from selling his company. He could have got help filing for bankruptcy. This would have been the best option to go for it. But all is not lost. Time is still there to make any amendments to the decisions taken out by him.
The Apollo IE will be shown to potential buyers this month and deliveries are expected to begin early next year. Only 10 units are currently planned and each buyer will also receive driver training at some of Europe’s most famous race tracks – pretty much a necessity with the type of performance it will have on tap.

Unlike the road-going Arrow that has a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, the track-only version has a naturally-aspirated V12 with around 800 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. Originally, Apollo teamed up with Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus on development, but has since chosen to work exclusively with Manifattura Automobili Torino in Italy.
“We felt that all the technological advancement and automation in today’s supercars took away the pure, raw emotional connection between the driver and car,” Apollo chairman Norman Choi said in a statement. “We wanted to build a car that would fill that void separating car and driver—so we built the Apollo IE.”
