Alfa Romeo Giulia Coupe Expected for Late 2018

The BMW M4 better watch out.

Originally rumored to debut earlier this year,  reports the Alfa Romeo Giulia coupe should arrive in late 2018. Based on the current Giulia sedan, the two-door version will compete directly with the BMW 4 Series and Audi A5, but there’s little doubt a high-performance Quadrifoglio version will also join the lineup to take on the popular BMW M4. The coupe version should arrive a couple years before the Giulia sedan gets a refresh in 2020.

The Italian automaker’s revival in North America arguably got off to a bumpy start, with the Giulia’s launch delayed. The sporty 4C and 4C Spider models likely won’t see any significant changes until 2021, and the new Stelvio crossover won’t be refreshed until then as well.

As for a flagship sedan that would compete with the BMW 5 Series, plans for that model have been delayed until 2021. Alfa Romeo is also reportedly working on a large crossover to compete with the Audi Q7 and BMW X5, but it’s unclear when that will be introduced. It will share its underpinnings with the Stelvio and will mainly target the U.S. and China markets.
