2019 Ford Ranger FX4 Steps Out for the Camera Ahead of Debut

The 2019 Ford Ranger FX4 has been spied testing with its production body, headlights and other styling cues prior to its debut next year.

These latest spy photos show the Ranger’s Explorer-like grille peaking out from behind the camouflage. The headlights and taillights remain covered up, but small portions of them are exposed.

Setting the off-road focused FX4 trim apart from standard versions of the new Ranger will be raised up suspension, beefier off-road rubber, a front underbody skid plate and perhaps some other cosmetic touches such as FX4 decals, model specific wheels and FX4 badging.

Under the hood of this new Ranger will likely be a turbocharged four-cylinder EcoBoost engine of some sort, while Ford’s twin-turbo 2.7-liter V6 could appear in higher-end versions of the pickup. The automaker’s 10-speed automatic transmission should serve in the truck as well.

We’re expecting the 2019 Ford Ranger and Ranger FX4 to debut at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, so stay tuned to AutoAfterWorld for more information on this mid-size model revival.
