The 2017 MINI Countryman has earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick award, but its headlights caused it to miss out on the coveted Top Safety Pick+ distinction.
The all-new 2017 MINI Countryman missed out on the Top Safety Pick+ award as its available headlights were rated marginal and poor. In order to receive the higher award this year, a vehicle must have good or acceptable headlights.
But the compact model did receive good crashworthiness ratings across the board, while the optional front crash prevention system received an advanced rating.

In IIHS crash tests at 12 and 25 mph, the system mitigated a collision, reducing the impact speed by 7 mph in both tests.
The 2017 MINI Countryman is available in Cooper, Cooper ALL 4, Cooper S, Cooper S ALL 4, Cooper S E ALL4 plug-in hybrid electric and John Cooper Works performance variants. The new model went on sale in March 2017.
