The Jeep Compass finally looks like it fits in with the rest of Jeep’s lineup.

Sporting an appearance that resembles a baby Grand Cherokee, the 2017 Jeep Compass bowed at the 2016 L.A. Auto Show. Under the hood lurks a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 180 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque, while shoppers can choose from a variety of transmission options. A six-speed manual is available on both front-wheel and four-wheel-drive models, while a nine-speed automatic is available on the 4×4 model. The other automatic transmission option is a six-speed unit.

The new Compass also has off-road capability with Jeep Active Drive Low sporting a crawl ratio that is able to send 100 percent of the power to whichever wheel has the most traction. Those choosing the Trailhawk trim gets hill descent control, a rock crawl mode, a 20:1 crawl ratio, skid plates, aggressive off-road tires, up to 19 inches of water fording, a 2,000-pound towing capacity and a small lift that gives the Compass a 30-degree approach angle, 24-degree breakover angle and a 34-degree departure angle.
