Those that aren’t patient enough to wait for the Civic Type R can settle for the new Honda Civic Si.

Making its debut as a “prototype” at the 2016 L.A. Auto Show, don’t expect much to change when the production Civic Si heads to dealerships next year. As expected, the styling on the Si isn’t as aggressive as the Type R and it will be available as a coupe and a sedan.

The good news is, the model will only offer a six-speed manual transmission and will be powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The bad news: Honda didn’t spill the details on just how much horsepower and torque the powerplant will offer, just saying that the engine is “high-performance” and “high-torque.”

2016 L.A. Auto Show Coverage

The previous Honda Civic Si boasted 205 hp and 170 lb-ft of torque, so at the very least, you can expect the new model to have more. As for the prototype sitting at the 2016 L.A. Auto Show, it features a full Honda Factory Performance (HFP) aero kit, spoiler and a shiny center-mounted exhaust along with 19-inch wheels.
