Ford is recalling certain F-250 trucks, and approximately 52,000 units are affected.
According to Ford, the recall is due to unintended vehicle movement while in Park. All affected trucks are from the 2017 model year and are equipped with 6.2-liter gasoline-powered engines, and Ford advises owners to use the parking brake at all times when shifting their vehicle into Park to keep the vehicle stationary.
In the affected vehicles, a damaged park rod actuating plate might not achieve mechanical park within the automatic transmission after the driver shifts the F-250 into Park. If the parking brake is not applied, it could result in the F-250 unintentionally moving even though the gear selector is in Park. As a result, it increases the risk of injury or crash.

The American automaker is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the issue and the affected units were built at Kentucky Assembly Plant from October 9, 2015, to March 30, 2017.
A total of 52,608 units are affected in North America, with 48,421 units in the U.S. and federalized territories. The remaining 4,143 are in Canada.
To resolve the issue, dealers will inspect and replace the park rod actuating plate as necessary at no cost to the owner.
