Corrective action: On affected vehicles, Lexus will replace the pistons and rings. In engines showing excessive cylinder-wall wear, dealers will replace the short-block assembly. A short block is a new engine assembly short of the cylinder heads.

Warranty info: Repairs will be covered under the provisions of the powertrain warranty, which is 60 months/60,000 miles, whichever comes first. There is no mention of a customer reimbursement program in place, but if you've had repairs done by someone other than a dealer, ask Lexus if reimbursement is possible.

What owners should do: Call your local dealer with your vehicle's identification number to determine if your vehicle is involved in this service action. You can also call Lexus at 800-255-3987. Plan on leaving the vehicle, as this operation is labor-intensive and will take a few days to complete. Reference TSB No. SB0006-15.
