2006-09 Honda Civic Engine Issues

Vehicles affected by this service bulletin:

  • 2006 Honda Civic (VINs beginning with 1HG or 2HG)
  • 2007 Honda Civic (VINs beginning with 1HG or 2HG)
  • 2008 Honda Civic (VINs beginning with 1HG or 2HG)
  • 2009 Honda Civic (VINs beginning with 1HG, 19X and 2HG)

The problem: The engine block may leak coolant, resulting in engine overheating.

Corrective action: Dealers will replace the engine block free of charge.

Warranty info: Repairs will be done under an extended warranty (10 years from the original date of purchase, no mileage limits).

What owners should do: Call your local dealer with your vehicle's identification number to determine if it is eligible for this extended warranty. You can also call Honda at 800-999-1009 or NHTSA at 888-327-4236. Reference TSB No. 10-048.
